An Online Dialogue to Surface New Perspectives

With every passing day it seems The Holocrisis [1] reveals yet another facet, adding to its complexity and thwarting our conventional attempts to ‘solve’ it. Yet for some of us - perhaps you include yourself? - confronting The Holocrisis (whatever name one gives it), understanding its dynamics and moving to dissolve its power remain at the core of our work.
If this is true for you at this time, I invite you to be part of an extended, facilitated dialogue with some of your peers, where our central question will be how best to respond to The Holocrisis, both personally and collectively.
Structure
The Loosening consists of a suite of four fortnightly online conversations, each lasting 1 hour 15 minutes, so a total of 5 hours spaced over two months. Each The Loosening group will consist of no fewer than 6 and no more than 9 participants.
Each of the sessions, which I will facilitate, will be spent partly in whole-group conversation and partly in small group reflection.
At the heart of the exercise will be deepening our capacity to listen for what may be emerging, within ourselves, within the group and out in the world as it unfolds in the presence of The Holocrisis. Together, in this highly attentive gathering, we will take courage and metaphorically throw the elements of what we know in the air, observe together how they land and, perhaps bypassing our expert minds, begin to entertain fresh perspectives and possibilities.
Timing
The first three groups are full and have embarked, or are about to.
They typically run from 16.45 to 18.00 (SAST) on a weekday, with the sessions a fortnight apart.
The fourth group will run on every other Wednesday afternoon, from 16.45 to 18.00 (SAST), beginning 19th March, ending 30th April. Alternative timing may be negotiated once the group has begun.
Cost
For the series of four 75-minute online conversations:
Global South - self-funding participants: R1,500
Global South - participants funded by an organisation: R3,000
Elsewhere: € or $ 150 / funded by organisation: € or $ 300
Payable in advance against invoice; no VAT. Cost will not be a barrier to your participation, so if in any doubt, please ask.
[1] The Holocrisis is the term I have adopted to describe what others refer to as the metacrisis, permacrisis or polycrisis. I explain why in this article in the Daily Maverick, Nov 2024. I am not terminally attached to any of the ideas put forward there, but I do like the name as a shorthand for what we are moving into.
